If you are undecided

Americas Choice Now - Video

Well folks, I know you may not all and probably will not all agree with me but I am just going to put it out there: This is my stand on human life. I know some would argue that how is the war different than abortion? Both are taking lives? For me there is one startling difference. Sure...there is death in war but both parties are aware of the risk when they engage in battle. War is tragic but also a part of the world we live in. The death of a helpless babe, one whose right to live is being taken away before they can contribute to our society is horrific and makes my blood boil. I am now 14 weeks pregnant. Did you know that even though our baby is only approximately 3 inches long and 1 1/2 ounces that by week 14 they can grimace, frown, suck their thumb, grasp with their little fingers, their kidneys are producing urine, the liver starts making bile and the spleen starts helping in the production of red blood cells. This is all happening within a child who is only 3 inches long!! Amazing! To me the choice this election is coming down to the sacredness of life!! Watch this video and take a moment to thank God for the beauty of life and ask Him how to aid in the preservation of life!!

Just to add some stats in too:
Annually, 46 million babies die from abortion worldwide. That’s approximately one baby being aborted every two seconds.

An estimated 48 million babies have been aborted since 1973. Approximately 24% of all U.S. pregnancies end in abortion.

just had to add my 2 cents here. i've heard said there have been more abortions in the bush presidency than in the clinton presidency. republican economic policies tend to make conditions less favourable for those who may be deciding whether or not to have their babies or abort them due to economic constraints. i also wonder why republicans spend so much time campaigning about the issue of abortion but so little time actually doing something about it when they're in office. is it because they're afraid if roe vs wade is overturned they'll lose talking points in the next election?

all that to say, i feel my democratic vote is a prolife vote taking the lives lost both in abortion and war into consideration.

i love your blog by the way! congrats on your new little eveleth.

Jen,
I read your comments on the wall here and just felt like I wanted to respond.
The issue of war is one that most people don't like, but if we were not at war, the war would be here in the US. Also, the war was entered because of the death of innocent people in other countries. We enjoy freedom here because of our willingness to risk our lives in other places. It is obvious that other countries are more than willing to come to our land and kill. Other countries also use their power to inflict unjust punishment on their people and put them into some very difficult living situations.
Regarding the abortion issue, the laws have not been overturned because of the supreme court. There are a majority still on the court that believe in abortion. This next president will most likely be able to turn that around.
These are a few responses to your points. I know that I personally don't want to see any more innocent deaths whether from war or abortion, that is why we need a candidate that will at least move us in that direction.

Also, for the record, the abortion rate under Bush has sunk to its lowest point in 30 years: http://health.usnews.com/articles/health/healthday/2008/09/23/us-abortion-rate-at-30-year-low.html

How can believing that killing an unborn baby is a constitutionally protected right that should be preserved (Obama) be somehow morally equivalent to believing that increasing government transfers to the poor is not the best solution to poverty (McCain)?

One is an issue of justice, while the other is a disagreement on how to approach a problem. Even if the economic argument on abortion were true, there is nothing pro-life about reducing the likelihood that someone chooses to murder while working to preserve the right to murder for the next 30 years.
